Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort is 24 hectare island paradise is surrounded by crystal clear waters with varying aquamarine hues. It is also known for its sandbar for its changing shapes and shifting locations around the island, depending on the season. It is located at the southern tip of Cebu island in Central Philippines. It remains as one of Cebu’s best kept secrets and is very popular with divers.

Sumilon island has a natural lagoon teeming with high mangroves. There are also natural caves where fishermen used to seek refuge. On the southside, a lighthouse rests on a protected tree park. Beside it is a “Baluarte”, a historical watchtower built as part of a warning system to thwart slavers and marauders in the 19th century.

Sumilon island is the first marine protected area in the Philippines and was made a fish sanctuary in 1974 under the guidance of Siliman University Marine Reserve. During dives, one will find varied marine species and even occasional sightings of black tip sharks. Pristine white sand beaches are situated in different areas in Sumilon.

Accommodation

There are twelve rooms (arranged as six cottages, each with two adjoining rooms) with private verandas that offer views of the sea, cove, and mainland Cebu. Each room has an area of 48-square meter and accommodates a maximum of 3 guests.

How to Get There

There are three choices to come from Cebu City to Moalboal

For backpackers: Taxi to Cebu city to the Southern Bus terminal, look for a “Ceres Liner” Bus (better) or a “Librando” Bus, have a funny bus ride (about 2,5 hours) to Moalboal , then hire a Tricycle (motorcycle with side-carriage) to us.
Faster and more comfortable: Hire a Taxi (if you are alone or without large diving luggage) at the airport or in the city to Moalboal (make sure the taxi driver knows Moalboal / Panagsama Beach) Cheaper than our transfer, if you understand to bargain. If you have to hire a van, it will be not cheaper.
Fastest without bargaining and headache: you order the transfer from airport to our cottages from us, we guarantee good vans up to 5 people including diving luggage and drivers at any day or night time. Look at transfer

The name Cocobana was inspired by the four words Corals, Coconuts, Bananas and Cabanas. It opened in 1992 and is the first resort in Malapascua Island. The Resort is located right at the snow-white Bounty Beach. The fine sandy beach offers plenty of space to relax and sunbathe. An easy slope invites for snorkeling and scuba diving in the lagoon, for adults and kids alike.

Accommodation

The spacious Resort consists of 23 Beach Cottages and 4 new Super-Deluxe-Aircon-Rooms in a two story house. 17 Beach Cottages are equipped with fan, shower and toilet. 6 Beach Cottages have Aircon and hot water and the 4 Super-Deluxe-Aircon-Rooms are further equipped with refrigerator and TV. In each bungalow, there is a balcony where our guests can enjoy the sunset.

The 27 Cottages and Rooms belong to different categories and prices.

The Cottages called Sea View are directly at the beach. Those which we call Limited Sea View are located between the Cottages from the first Row but a little bit in the back.

The two Garden Cottages offer space for maximum 2 persons. All other Cottages and Rooms offer sufficient space for maximum 4 persons.

Due to the island’s location, television reception by satellite is not always guaranteed. Depending upon the weather some international stations are disturbed and occasionally not available. It’s just another reason to enjoy the beaches and dive sites in Malapascua.

In addition the Resort has an excellent restaurant with national and international dishes. The various breakfast in our Beach Restaurant is well appreciated and well known over the national borders!

The Sunset Beach Bar is located in the center of the Resort. This is where our guests meet to have a cool drink and enjoy the sunset over the sea.

Kota Beach Resort is at the heart of Sta. Fe in Bantayan Island. It boasts of a curved shoreline and pristine waters creating a perfect scenery.
